9 days old!

Gavin is already 9 days old today and he had his 1st pediatrician appointment. It went really well! He was born at 6 lbs 10 oz and was down to 6 lbs 4 oz when we got discharged from the hospital. Today he was back up to 6 lbs 8 oz, so he is almost back up to his birth weight! The DR said his color looked great and she didn't see a need to get another test to check on his jaundice because as long as he's eating well and continues to gain weight then it shouldn't be a problem. We also found out the hospital was wrong when they said he was 22" long, turns out he was only 20" long at birth and today he was 20.5". Here is a picture from today!

1 Week Old

Gavin is already 1 week old today ~ it's amazing how much he changes on a daily basis. He was nice to mommy last night and I got about 7 hours of sleep - broken up in chunks of course, but I feel so refreshed today! Today is also Matt & I's 1st wedding anniversary ~ what a busy year for us! I'm pretty sure Gavin is the best anniversary gift ever!

More details and pictures!

I finally have a few minutes to give more details on how Gavin came into the world! I was induced on Monday, September 8th at 4:00 pm and he was born the next morning, September 9th at 11:35 am. He was 6 lbs 10 oz and 22" long - he had a very rough entry into the world and had to spend the first 7 hours of his life in the NICU, which was heartbreaking for me - I didn't get to hold him until he was 4 hours old! He had a lot of stress during the delivery which caused meconium staining...basically he had his first bowel movement inside of me and it was going into his lungs...poor thing! He had to be taken away to get xrays and make sure there wasn't any signs of infection. Thank god all of the tests they did came back normal and he was released from the NICU and was able to be with me in my room at 6 pm that evening. He also is a little bit jaundice so we've had to take him in the last 2 days to have a test to make sure it's getting better and not any worse. Now that my milk has come in, he is eating like a champ and the jaundice is getting better! We have had him home for 2 days now and everything has gone relatively smoothly, I've gotten at least 5 hours of sleep both nights. Becoming a mom is the most amazing thing I have ever experienced in my entire life and I am so completely smitten with the little guy! I can't believe he is finally here!

Matt & I want to thank all of our friends and family for the support we have received and we are so lucky that Gavin has so many amazing people in his life and ours. Here are some pictures!

Last appointment!

I had my last OB appointment today! Heartbeat was great, and I've gone from a fingertip to 2 cm dilated. That doesn't necessarily mean much, but at least I've progressed somewhat on my own since they checked last. I am still set to go in on Monday to be induced ~ I'm scheduled to go in at noon, but I'm supposed to call a few hours ahead of time to make sure they have a suite open for me, I could end up going in earlier than noon, or later, it just depends. But it looks like Monday will be the day - so I have 5 days left until I can meet my little man! Unless of course he decides to come on his own before then! I will probably post one last belly picture this weekend but other than that, next post will hopefully be news of Gavin's arrival!
